Mohave County - The Arizona Republic reported recently that snowpack has fallen to less than 10% of normal and the state's major rivers likely will produce only around 40% of normal runoff this year. As a 12-year drought is extended, conditions got worse on the Colorado River which provides more than 1/3 of the state's water. Snow either evaporated or melted too early and too quickly. The Colorado River will have less than half of its usual spring and summer flow.
Paul Maxwell, president of the Golden Shores Water Conservation District told GSX, "It is science. They know what’s happening and we need to get ready for what's coming. We are over-built and we are over-using our water supply. It takes 7 years for water to get from the surface down to our aquifers. We are going to have to get really serious about our water and conservation."

Fort Mohave - Mohave County Sheriff's deputies responded Sunday evening 4/8 to a disturbance on Hiada Drive and contacted the 45-year-old male victim. The victim reported that his ex-girlfriend is always showing up at his residence and causing a disturbance. While deputies were speaking with the victim, they observed the ex-girlfriend sitting on the ground near the driveway screaming profanities as deputies were speaking with the victim. Deputies cautioned her but she continued screaming obscenities at the victim. Deputies arrested Tonya Lynn Morgan, 42, of Golden Shores, for disorderly conduct/domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Morgan was taken into custody without incident.

Mohave Valley - Mohave County Sheriff's deputies responded to Mallard Street on Tuesday 4/10 at around 2:00 p.m. reference to theft of services. The reporting party, an employee of the water company, said the water was shut off at this residence and the resident is obtaining the water illegally. The occupants of the residence, Macalpine and Armitage, said they were aware of the water services being turned off. A records check showed John Warren Armitage, 48, of Mohave Valley, to have an outstanding felony warrant issued out of California. Mark Macalpine, 43, was arrested for theft - obtaining services without paying. During the investigation, deputies confiscated marijuana, variety of drug paraphernalia and parts of firearms. They were transported and booked into the Mohave County jail. The County Attorneys Office will be reviewing this case for possible drug charges.

Mohave Valley - On Monday 4/9 Mohave County Sheriff's deputies observed a metallic brown 1994 Ford Ranger northbound on Highway 95 through the Aztec intersection in a construction zone. The truck was tailgating another vehicle almost causing an accident passing another vehicle illegally. Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the truck continued at a high rate of speed. Deputies lost sight of the truck and later located the unoccupied vehicle parked at a business. Deputies determined the occupants of the trucks were not there so the truck was towed from the scene. A record check showed the truck was registered to Butler's father who told deputies his son told him the truck had been stolen. Deputies advised Butler's father that Ian Butler did not report the truck stolen and that they had towed the vehicle. After further investigation, deputies contacted Ian Butler, 24, of Fort Mohave, at a business located at Highway 95 and Ramar. Butler was extremely nervous. Butler arrested for unlawful flight from law enforcement vehicle, felony and was taken into custody without incident.
