AVI Resort - On Friday 4/6 Ann Trilby of United Blood Services presented the 2006 King of the River Award to the Avi Resort and Casino in recognition of the Avi’s accomplishments during its two public blood drives, for collecting more blood than any other gaming property on the Colorado River.

 k.Dee Ignatin told GSX, ”The two blood drives we hold here at the Avi every year are very important to us.

A significant part of our philosophy here is to take good care of our locals. We always want to do better every time and our next goal is to top 100 units in a single drive. The management at the Brenden Movie Theater here at the Avi deserves a lot of credit, too. They always offer our donors the option of a free movie pass, while we offer a coupon at the Native Harvest Buffet for a free meal. The Golden Nugget collected 196 units of blood in their drives for 2006. We won this award with 208 total units collected. This is one area where the gaming properties can fiercely compete and everybody wins. But you know what they say, ‘It’s good to be the king’.”
